You can buy an AppleCare+ plan, which is an extended warranty program offered by the company. 

Almost all devices by Apple are eligible to avail extended warranty through AppleCare warranty plans, which entails chat/phone support for free. This is for a year, and after that the user has to pay for extension of this service, which is the AppleCare+ plan. Extended warranty for mobiles is necessary as this helps you have your device covered for longer periods.

Most users believe that it is better to buy an AppleCare+ plan while buying the Apple product, so that you don’t have to rush at the last minute to buy the same. You can buy AppleCare+ on the App Store, or through the brand’s official website. You can also buy AppleCare+ through authorized resellers. But keep in mind that you can only make this purchase within 60 days after buying the Apple product. You can also go to the brand’s website to check the eligibility of your Apple device for AppleCare+, or go to ‘Settings’ on your phone to see if your phone is eligible for availing AppleCare+.

You will need to do a diagnostic test on your device while buying your AppleCare+ plan. This needs to be done as a company mandate, as Apple wants to ensure you aren’t buying warranty for a damaged device. It is hence better to buy the plan right away after the purchase, or while purchasing the iPhone.
